Now out on all major streaming services.

‘In light of recent events’ is the second single from Icelandic Composer and Pianist, Sævar Jóhannsson, upcoming solo piano album 'Where the light enters' which will be released in August in collaboration with indie UK label Whitelabrecs. The album is inspired by a quote by Rumi “The wound is the place where the light enters you”.

Sævar would best describe this song as a mix of an absent mind and an overthinking one. It can sometimes be difficult to keep a clear mind. There's a meditation technique called 'Noting' where you simply note a thought when it arises and then let it gently float away, bringing your focus back to breathing. The idea being that you cannot control your thoughts but it's the dwelling part that actually causes you the most pain.

He also did a little interview about his new release for Reykjavík Grapevine’s new radio show: 66 Degrees of Sound. You can listen to it on min 29 although we recommend you listen to the whole thing! It’s always great to have more media in Iceland focused on new music releases and events. You can listen to the episode here
